ALTA's Password Policy

Password Requirements

The following password requirements apply to Microsoft 365 applications and services that require Staff User logins, including:

• Outlook

• Microsoft Teams

• Staff computer/workstation logins

• Microsoft 365 accounts and related applications

Passwords must be updated every 90 days.

All passwords must:

• Be a minimum of 8 characters in length

• Contain characters from at least three (3) of the following four categories:

Character Requirements

• Uppercase Letter (A–Z)

• Lowercase Letter (a–z)

• Numeric Character (0–9)

• Special Character (for example: !, @, #, $, %)

Password Best Practices

To help maintain account security, users should:

• Avoid using easily guessed words, names, or dates

• Avoid reusing previous passwords

• Keep passwords confidential and do not share them with others

• Use unique passwords for work-related accounts whenever possible
