ALTA owns the copyright on all forms used for title insurance in the United States. Holding a Policy Forms License with ALTA (at a cost of $195) is a requirement of all issuing agents of title insurance to comply with this copyright. It grants them the continued use of ALTA’s Policy Forms for the calendar year.
If you/your company issued 51 or more title policies in the previous year you must submit the $195 License fee.
- Log onto http://ALTA.org and click on the Store at the top to the left of MY ACCOUNT. Click on Policy Forms License
- Click on Purchase a License under Policy Forms License **** this is where you can print your certificate as well.
- You should be on the below screen. The license should be on the company not the individual. Click on the company that you are purchasing the license for. If you have more than one location be sure to select the main location.
- Select Policy Forms License (Paid) Subscription and click on Review & Checkout >.
- If you want to receive the certificate of license in the mail you MUST check the box below.
- Click on Checkout √
- The next screen is where you will be entering the payment details; credit card or ACH. Enter your email address so that you will be sent a receipt. Click on Submit Your Order. The receipt will come from service@alta.org.
The certificate of license will be mailed out in 3 weeks to the address on the account.
